“Madame Secretary”, from Joan Of Arcadia creator Barbara Hall and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, explores the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.

Episode 1
Newly-appointed Secretary Of State Elizabeth McCord is immediately faced with a maelstrom of complex political challenges, and an international hostage situation is her top priority. Meanwhile at home, Elizabeth questions whether she did the right thing by taking this job, as her children are finding it difficult to adjust to their new schools.
Episode 2
Elizabeth has to deal with a crisis in Yemen and there’s trouble on the home front for her as well after her oldest daughter Stevie manages to make the headlines for protesting a new policy at her university.
Episode 3
Elizabeth is confronted by a hostile reporter who is threatening to publish confidential documents. Elsewhere, Henry is stuck in an international negotiation when his wife uses his job as leverage to make a deal with Pakistan.
Episode 4
A Chinese student comes between a peace treaty between Japan and China. Stevie and Alison continue to clash.
Season 01, Episode 05 – “Blame Canada”
Elizabeth faces the daunting task of negotiating with Iran over their escalating nuclear program. Determined to deal with the situation in a peaceful manner, she has to get creative when the president seems determined to take military action. Meanwhile, Jason’s respect for Henry grows as he interviews him for a school report.
