The psychological effects of an affair between a married waitress at a Hamptons diner and a teacher who spends his summer at his in-laws’ estate on the island. “The Affair” is an intense and intimate exploration of two marriages and an affair that disrupts them — with all of the complex consequences that result. West will play Noah, a good husband, devoted father of four, and New York City high school teacher whose settled, comfortable world is about to implode when he meets a woman he thinks is his soul mate.

The emotional effects of an extramarital relationship are explored when a married schoolteacher begins an affair with a waitress on Long Island. In the opener, Noah Solloway and his family visit Long Island where he connects with a local waitress.

Preparations are made at the Butler estate for an annual summer party. Meanwhile, aspects of Noah and Alison’s separate lives start to weave together and the two are forced to consider an inevitability.

Noah asks for Alison’s help whilst researching the local culture for his novel. However a innocent tour of Montauk soon leads to a dangerous situation. Cole takes a stand for the community. Helen has to deal with business back in Brooklyn.
